CORN HUSK HAT

We drove past the last gas station and she still said, Gun it! We’ve been waiting for so long to push ourselves into space. Better days, she said. Better days from here on out. You’ve got your corn husk hat, I’ve got my camera. Skin is the new film and no one’s replied to our [...]

LARGE-SMALL LOVES

Sometimes it’s ok to ask a tree to bend a branch or two, even more ok to demand it with your afternoon voice holding a half-eaten limb of rabbit or squirrel, or whatever children find in the forest these days. Trouble is not in the disagreement, sometimes it’s ok to lose a search or lose [...]

WRITING PRACTICE – 8AM

“So much needs to be said about the polyester in your words.” A line from a writing prompt this morning with Janet Bernstein and Joy Mcdowell [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdH2GBeMPrQ?rel=0&w=830&h=480] 00

Fawn Skin

FAWN SKIN A cape, a poncho, a smear of tar. A country says to come in with our mouths closed, hands inside pockets, until our name is called. They give out free bubble gum at the INS office, no ginseng for the ones who have bound feet, no do- re-mi for children who smell like [...]

The knowest you. The must of tears, the must of easy love, the you in love with tears. The truth of tears in love must always know. (c) Sam Roderick Roxas-Chua Draft [...]

Dahan-Dahan

Slowly, slowly a dash of salt is heavy on a moth’s wing, it may tilt the journey home. It must be hard to be made out of dust and collected hand me down arms from other dead winged things. Here is your home how, sleep half-pressed to resemble a flower, sleep with one eye open [...]

Bargain Computer Desk!!!

Bought a computer desk for the studio. It cost only forty dollars! A bargain! I have a photo of my birthfather and a stapler that he owned on the desk, some Iron Goddess Tea from J-Tea International, a small blessed statue of the Buddha, and yeah, Pee Wee Herman watches over my studio. 00

First day of fall, steel toe boots, wishbone :: Writing prompt

The first day of fall begins with the sound of wishbone. We gather at grandfather’s house, sit around him and touch his steel toe boot to our foreheads. He would ask each and everyone to spell his Chinese name in the language of red, white and blue. He would then test our multiplication table in [...]
